Hunstanton’s very own whacky races returns with an additional obstacle on the course called the ‘Rattler Ramp’, organisers say it adds 'an extra test of speed, balance and bravery'.

The legendary event attracts thousands of people to watch over 50 teams take on tight corners and a chicane, in hand-built karts.

Also, for the first time, spectators will have the chance to vote for the best-looking kart, known as the Concours d'Elegance.

This historic gravity-powered racing tradition dates back to 1953. The course begins at the top of Greevegate, winds through a series of twists and turns, features a jump, and finishes on Beach Terrace Road overlooking the seafront.

Cllr Sue Lintern, says, “Hunstanton Soap Box Derby is always a highlight of our events calendar, bringing together creativity, friendly competition and a fantastic seaside atmosphere.

"Each year we see incredible effort put into the design of the karts, and I’m excited to see what teams come up with in 2026."
