In cricket, Snettisham CC clear at the top and Sandringham & Dersingham beat local foes Bircham whilst entry into Hunstanton's famous tennis tournament now open

In Division Two of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance, Sandringham & Dersingham 1st XI made the short trip to local rivals Bircham on Saturday.
Bircham started the match well in this eagerly anticipated early season derby, posting a respectable 194/6, aided by Tom King's half century, with Lloyd Richmond's brace of wickets the pick of the visitor's bowling stats.
Sandringham stuttered to begin with as they looked to chase down the host's target, but a mid wicket stand between Callum Lee (58) and Pete Brassett (41) proved pivotal as they managed to reach their target with just two wickets and one over remaining.
Sandringham are 4th, Bircham 7th, in what looks like is going to be a tight division.

In Division Three, Snettisham maintained their 100% record and unbeaten start to the season with a tense 3 wicket win at Cromer 2nds. In-form Kieran Herbert's excellent 4 wickets helped restrict the home side to a modest 178.
Whilst the overs were not a problem, Snettisham lost early wickets but were steadied by James Cotton's 53 runs to get over the line and secure maximum points. Snettisham are now clear leaders at the top and are plainly intent on making up for just missing out on promotion last season.
In Division Four, Thornham's unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end after a 66 run loss at leaders Narborough. Hat-tricks for Adam Rose and Chris Burgess looked to have given the local outfit a chance of chasing down an achievable target of 172. However, their run chase faultered and never really got going with no batsman scoring over 30 runs as they were dispatched for just 106 runs. Thornham are in 4th place.
Snettisham 2nds lost by 6 wickets at home to Hardingham in Division One of the Norfolk Cricket League.
In Division Two, Sandringham & Dersingham 2nds were beaten by 136 runs at home to Gooderstone, despite Rasanga Alahakoon’s valiant 55 runs.
In Division Four, 62 runs from Brad Williams and a hat-trick of wickets for Billy Brotherton saw Thornham 2nds to a 48 run win at home to Mundford 2nds, whilst Bircham 2nds (Chris Banks hat-trick) slipped to a tight two wicket defeat at Snettisham 3rds (Hayden Figura hat-trick) in the same division.
Tennis
Hunstanton's famous tennis tournament, which has been running for over 100 years, returns from the 16th to the 22nd August. Considered one of the largest grass court tournaments in the world, the event is popular amongst players and spectators alike who travel from far and wide to attend.
The beer tent, eateries and boutique stalls add to the festival atmosphere of the occasion.
As well as the flagship Men’s and Ladies Open tournaments, there are also singles, doubles and mixed pairs events open to people of all ages and abilities from juniors right up to veterans.
