Cllr Steve Bearshaw is elected, with Cllr Vivienne Spikings as deputy
Cllr Steve Bearshaw is now the mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, at the ceremony Cllr Vivienne Spikings has been elected as deputy.
Cllr Bearshaw was born in Wigan and raised in North Yorkshire and says growing up he was extremely active.
In a 29 year career serving in the Royal Air Force he has been posted to Germany, Scotland, West Midlands, Lincolnshire, Bristol and Norfolk, whilst detachments and tours have taken him across the world.
In his time, he’s worked on many different aircraft types, from Spitfires and Lancaster Bombers, to the latest state of the art technology, in such roles as the Configuration Manager, Modifications Manager and his latest Work Force Warrant Officer.
A posting in 2001 brought him to Norfolk where after 10 years at Marham he settled and lives in Clenchwarton.
Cllr Bearshaw is an Independent Councillor for The Clenchwarton Ward, serving as the Armed Forces Member Champion and on numerous committees, panels and boards, including the Audit Committee and King’s Lynn Conservancy Board. He’s also Chair of the Clenchwarton Aircrew Memorial Charity.
His charities for the year will be the Bridge for Heroes & The Purfleet Trust, and will be supported in his year in office by his wife, Marisol.
Cllr Vivienne Spikings, elected as deputy mayor, was born in Wisbech spending her early years in Museum Square, where her grandfather and uncle practised as dentists. Her parents later ran a shop in Outwell, where Vivienne helped. She subsequently qualified as a Reflexologist.
Cllr Spikings was first elected in 1999 as a Conservative Borough Councillor for the Outwell and Upwell Ward. Following boundary changes, she continues to serve as the elected representative for the Upwell and Delph Ward.
She has held several senior roles, including Cabinet Member for Development and Chair of the Local Plan, and is an active member of several groups, including the Homelessness Task Group.
Vivienne lives in Upwell with her husband, John Spikings. Their family business, J D Spikings and Son, was a well-known local butcher for 70 years until John’s retirement in 2017.
The deputy mayor will be supported by former councillor Avril Wright.
