Village school teacher nominated for a prestigious national film award
“It’s pretty amazing,” says Ash Williams, who is Maths, Science, and Computing Lead at Burnham Market Primary.
He's been shortlisted for Filmmaking Champion at this year’s Into Film Awards, for his work in providing film-making experiences for young people at the school and the wider community.
“I’ve worked hard to promote film education and the appreciation of film making in my school and in this part of Norfolk," Mr Williams continues, "And it feels fantastic to be recognised in such a way."
Mr Williams is one of only three people shortlisted for the award, which will be presented at a ceremony in London in June.
“Film making is my absolute passion," he adds, "And being able to bring the fantastic opportunities making a movie can provide into the classroom has always been something I’ve been incredibly passionate about.
“In the time I’ve been at Burnham Market, I’ve supported the production of dozens of films, which have won multiple awards; supported local charities with film production; and even acted as the Film Festival Director for the Fakenham Film Festival.
“Much of what I’ve done has been about inspiring others to achieve, so being recognised for supporting and furthering the love of film and film making feels truly special.”
