A colourful mix of Polyanthus, Bellis, and Myosotis, all still in good condition and ready to be replanted at home
The Borough Council's giving away plants free of charge, as they start their summer planting.
The first collection event will take place in St James’ Park, King’s Lynn on Monday 18 May from 10.30am. Follow by a second event in Esplanade Gardens, Hunstanton on Wednesday 20 May starting at 9am.
Garden enthusiasts can expect a colourful mix of Polyanthus, Bellis, and Myosotis, all still in good condition and ready to be replanted at home.
The council says staff will be on hand early to help lift the plants, that residents are welcome to bring their own forks and shovels to collect their own - but are urged to check with staff before removing any.
Cllr Sandra Squire, the borough council’s cabinet member for corporate services, says, “These flowers have already brought a lot of joy to people visiting St James’ Park and Esplanade Gardens, and we’d love to see them enjoyed all over again in residents’ gardens rather than being composted.
"Every year we see people arrive with everything from shopping bags to wheelbarrows – even bike baskets – and we hope for the same enthusiasm this time. These giveaways are always popular, and the plants tend to go quickly, so arriving early is a very good idea.”
Both events are free and open to all residents.
